Delivery Driver-CDL

Atlantic Tire Distributors in Edenton, NC, is currently seeking a full-time Delivery Driver-CDL to join our team! Summary:

Drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). May be required to unload truck; as well as other duties as assigned by the manager. Requires a commercial drivers' license.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
• Properly document goods delivered or loaded.
• Load and unload trucks
• Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
• Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.
• Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.

• Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, or box trucks.
• Getting Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
• Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, positioning, and moving materials.
• Working Directly with the Public - Greet customers in a friendly manor.
• Performing General Physical Activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
• Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
• Inspecting Equipment - Inspecting equipment to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The truck may or may not be air conditioned/heated seasonally. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Education and experience: High school diploma or equivalency, and a minimum of 1 year commercial driver experience required. CDL Required, Class A Required.
